Franklin County is a very diverse place, known as one of the finest snowmobile area in the country. Where riders can climb some of the the most demanding mountains around or simply take the family on a groomed trail.

In the early spring, through summer, we offer four-wheeler and ATV trails that stretch from our valley into Bear Lake and beyond.

We have several lakes withing a few miles of town that offer all sorts of fishing opportunities, from trout, bass, perch, blue gill and tiger muskies to walleye.

Preston has many shops and businesses for your pleasure. Stop by and see why we love our county and we think you will too!

Recent high temperatures following a cool, wet spring have increased the fire danger in Franklin County causing Fire Marshall Scott Martin to issue a burn ban for all unincorporated areas of Franklin County effective July 20, 2016.  The restrictions include fireworks of any kind, open fires of any kind, except campfires built within an improved fire pit at improved campgrounds or picnic areas and smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, building or developed recreation site.  This ban will be in effect until lifted by the Franklin County Fire Marshall.  Burn permits are required for agricultural burning, however, no permits are being issued at this time.
